So I have this headcanon where Casey is of Japanese Decent, black neatly chopped hair, slanted eyes, the works. But. She was born with ‘devil’ red eyes, and so her overly religious mother abuses her and tries to drown her. On numerous accounts. And so, of course, since this is America, someone calls the cops on the crazy woman and Child Services comes to take away Casey, only to see that her mother has hung herself from a beam in the apartment, in front of Casey. After Casey is taken away —she’s four— she’s moved into an orphanage and no matter what anyone else says or does, she doesn’t make a sound, no words, sentences, not even a sob. She’s basically… emotionless. She’s proclaimed mute and everyone leaves it at that.
